It makes me sad to think that due to my eating disorder at the time, I never realized how thin I actually was! Now, my goal is still 110lbs, however I know I won't look like that! I will look healthy and fit, not gaunt and tired.
However, I know realistically that I may not hit 110 pounds again. I accept that, but I also know that if I work hard enough I can do it. Healthy weight for me is between 95-123 at my height. Crazy, right? And 110 fits snuggling in between.
The good news is that I start school back up in a week, and we have free access to our gym. Hopefully my schedule will allow me to work out, but it's an all women's college so I'll feel more at ease. I'm actually really excited to start school back up because I love having a rigid schedule. It will also provide me the challenge of trying to eat healthy when time/refrigeration is limited. The past years I have had a hard time keeping food with me other than breakfast and a snack maybe, because I'd be there all day (8am-10pm, what!?!). I'd end up at the cafeteria or even worse, the "grill" where they'd serve up unhealthy (yet delicious) choices. On an average day, I'd be potentially eating two meals (and maybe a snack) at school. This usually consisted of chicken tenders which are deep fried, and fries. And the scary thing is that the healthier options are very limited at the "grill". We have little snack kiosks set up throughout school, and I commend them for their healthy options such as yogurt with fruit, fruit salad, veggies and dip, hummus and pretzels, etc, but they also sold donuts, nachos, etc.
So this year is my personal challenge to eat fit while in school, and utilize the exercise room as much as possible. I will start food journaling more on my blog at that point, because it'll be interesting to me how my eating habits have changed. I'm craving less junk lately, but I will always have a soft spot for fries! And I have realistic expectations. I know I'll end up with the fattening food more than once this school year, if I let myself. I'm going to try not to! If I want those fries, I'll find a friend to split them with and have my own pre-made lunch. Instead of regular chips, I'll bring my beanito chips and some salsa, pretzel thins and hummus, or a 200 cal pack of salted mixed nuts.
What are your strategies for keeping food with you throughout the day so that you don't stray from your healthy eating ways?
Also, here is a picture of my Mommy, my fiance, and myself in FL---she's my biggest supporter!
Have a lovely rest-of-your-weekend!
